Despite temperatures frequently dipping below freezing, construction is progressing on the Parker Elementary School Addition for the Prairie View Unified School District #362. In this photo, insulated blankets cover freshly poured concrete to help prevent freezing of the foundation walls. Snow is visible in the background. Other measures taken to mitigate the effects of cold temperatures include heating of the water and sand that make up a part of the concrete mixture.
The pace of construction has slowed modestly with the overall construction schedule behind about two weeks. However Nabholz Construction Services, the construction manager on the project, projects that time will be regained once the weather begins to warm up.
